Solution-Focused Therapy
A brief, goal-oriented approach that identifies your strengths and practical solutions, focusing on what to change rather than past problems.
Solution-Focused Therapy is a brief, goal-oriented approach that focuses on finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems. Instead of extensively exploring what went wrong, this approach helps you identify what is already working in your life and build on those strengths.
Developed by Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg, this approach is rooted in the belief that you already have the resources and abilities needed to create positive change. My role is to help you recognise and harness those strengths.
How Solution-Focused Therapy Can Help
- Quick, practical outcomes that you can see and feel
- Strengths-based approach that builds on what you do well
- Future-focused rather than dwelling on past difficulties
- Empowerment to take control of your own change process
- Clear direction with concrete, achievable goals
- Effective for everyday challenges and specific issues
What to Expect
In solution-focused sessions, we spend time exploring what a preferred future looks like for you. We identify times when things have gone well, even slightly, and examine what was different about those moments. This helps build a practical roadmap for change.
Sessions are often shorter-term compared to other approaches, making it a good fit if you have a specific issue you want to address or prefer a more structured, forward-looking approach.
